To reshape technical education in India, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced the establishment of an Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab in collaboration with IBM. This lab will focus on providing practical training to students and faculty in emerging areas such as AI, machine learning, and data science. It aims to develop a future-ready digital workforce in India and strengthen the country's position in the field of AI innovation.
AICTE-IBM's New AI Lab
This joint effort between AICTE and IBM is a transformative step for India's technical education sector. The new AI Lab will provide students and faculty with hands-on experience in AI, machine learning, and data science. They will have the opportunity to solve real-world problems through workshops, hackathons, and live projects.
The Lab's curriculum is aligned with industry standards, enabling students to better prepare for employment.
National Training and a Global Perspective
Under this initiative, selected teachers across the country will be trained as master trainers. These trainers will further provide AI training to students in their institutions through certified courses. Students and teachers who complete the training will be awarded certificates and recognition, enhancing their employability.
A Step Toward the Future
This initiative is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and India's National AI Strategy. This partnership, combined with IBM's Global Education Initiative, will be a strong step towards positioning India as a leader in AI innovation and technical skills.
