The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order allowing women to work in night shift between 7 pm and 6 am with special benefits like double wages and CCTV surveillance.
UP government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has issued a Gazette order stating that women employees working in night shift will receive double wages, CCTV surveillance, transport facilities, and security guards.
Under the new order, employers will have to ensure their security, fair wages, and other facilities. They will be allowed to work for up to six days a week.
In addition, the overtime limit has been raised from 75 hours to 144 hours per quarter, with payment at double wage rates.
This order also applies to 29 categories of hazardous industries, where women are now permitted to work.
