Protesters have been filmed chanting the anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish chant of "death to the IDF" in the constituency of the Prime Minister tonight as the controversial singer Bobby Vylan was expected to perform in London. Police were on alert tonight as the controversial singer, who chanted the anti-Israel slogans during a summer performance at Glastonbury, was expected to play in London tonight. The rapper, who is the frontman for the group Bob Vylan, ranted "death, death to the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)" during a BBC live streamed performance at the Worthy Farm festival in June. His performance sparked fierce criticism from MPs and community groups as the BBC failed to stop the livestream.
Bob Vylan are due to play at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town tonight, which is in the constituency of the Sir Keir Starmer, and protesters from rival pro-Palestine and Stop the Hate groups are expected outside the venue. A statement from the Met Police said both protests must end by 9.30pm.
Following their Glastonbury appearance, the group were later dropped from a number of festivals and performances including Radar festival, a show at a German music venue and a US tour after their visas were revoked.
The frontman, whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster, is understood to have voluntarily attended a police interview on Monday, after Avon and Somerset Police received advice from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). It comes after British Airways paused their sponsorship of the Louis Theroux podcast in October following an interview with Robinson-Foster, which saw him say he was "not regretful" of the chant and would "do it again tomorrow".
