This is the moment a man was seen running into oncoming traffic on a motorway while being chased by police officers. The incident reportedly took place shortly after 9.30am on November 11, as several police cars were seen boxing in a highway maintenance vehicle in an attempt to stop a driver.
Footage of the incident shows at least three cars surrounding the vehicle on a stretch of the M1 near Rugby, Warwickshire. The video then pans to a person - wearing a black hoodie - already running into traffic on the other side of the motorway central reservation.
Officers can be seen chasing after him before he appears to try and open a car door.
Jack Airey, 21, a construction worker, from Warminster, Wiltshire, captured the incident.
He said: "We were driving along the M1 and heard a bunch of sirens behind us and they came flying past us.
"There was a police car in front and a road traffic car and then there were three police cars behind, a couple undercover.
"There were all going for it and we drove a bit further and they had pitted the traffic car over and boxed him in.
"The guy got out the car, jumped over the barrier into oncoming traffic and the other side and officers were chasing him.
"The guy then attempted to get into someone's car at the end."
Thames Valley Police has been contacted for comment.
